The Miniature Bernedoodle is a mix between the Poodle and the Bernese Mountain Dog. With two well-liked parents, it is of no surprise that this breed has grown to be as popular as it is today. This breed's mother, The Bernese Mountain Dog originated in the Swiss mountains and had been used throughout history for a variety of jobs. Their main jobs were draft work to herd cattle, pull carts, guard farms from predators, and as basic family companions. This breed's father, the Poodle, is a very smart and independent dog who trains easily and has a very warm demeanor. The Poodle was originally bred in Germany and was used as a working dog that helped hunters retrieve waterfowl.
Many Miniature Bernedoodles are on the shy side around new faces and pets until they get to know them. They are a very calm breed and avoid confrontation. Being that they almost never show aggression, they make wonderful house pets and do well around children. This breed tends to have a very loyal side to them, and they quickly build trust and a bond with their family. They also enjoy engaging in outdoor playtime with other pets and children in their family. This breed has remained a favorite of families for generations.
Miniature Bernedoodles have an extremely fluffy coat that is soft and considered hypoallergenic thanks to its non-shedding qualities. This breed comes in an array of colors such as chocolate, red, cream, and black. Many also have variations of these colors, which form unique patterns on their coat. The Miniature Bernedoodle's coat does best with daily brushing to prevent matting. Weekly baths, routine teeth cleaning, and scheduled nail clipping are good ways to help this dog look and feel his best.
Miniature Bernedoodle do best with a set twelve-hour feeding schedule. Two equally sized meals should be served in these intervals. The first six months of their life will be the most crucial for physical development, which is why proper nutrition is so important. Making sure that this breed's teeth are properly cleaned three times a week is another important aspect of his care. Weekly baths and routine nail clipping should always be remembered too.
