We often hear the question, “Where do your puppies come from,” and, “Do you get your puppies from puppy mills?” Our puppies come from commercial breeders and they DO NOT come from “puppy mills.”
Petland makes frequent trips to visit their breeders. We work very hard to make sure we are getting the best puppies from the best breeders.
The quality of our breeders is directly regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the same organization that regulates your children’s school lunches.
Commercial breeders must abide by regulations set forth in the Animal Welfare Act. This document is over 200 pages long!
Petland’s dogs are all purchased from USDA facilities and hobby breeders.
USDA licensed commercial breeders account for less than 20% of all breeders in the country. The unregulated breeders who are selling outside of the USDA regulations and without a license are what we consider to be “Puppy Mills.”
On many occasions we have worked with the USDA to shut down these sub-standard breeders!
Petland has been instrumental in getting substandard breeders shut down and pushing the industry to higher and higher standards since 2006.
